Yesson!
If I had to pick one word for Yesson, it’s “crybaby”. Hahaha, I think he has cried his little eyes out every time I’ve seen him. He’s very sensitive but at the same time really tough. I’ve seen him try to pick fights with boys twice his size with no fear and yet cry when he didn’t have enough glue for his art project. But boy, it’s impossible to not fall in love with that face.

July - Sindi!
Hola! What an action packed summer it's been! We've had volunteers in and out from so many different locations, teachers coming in to start new classes, the addition of more time to the club for the kids to enjoy since they're on their summer break, and all sorts of more exciting additions! We are loving having so much time with the kids over break this year - and they are loving it even more. We can't believe how fast the summer has gone by but we are excited to enter into July so strong. We love summer! Here's Sindi hanging out at the club one day, showing off her newest origami creation from one of our classes for the younger girls. They love learning how to make origami and then hopefully will perfect the craft and turn around to sell them! Things are going so well around here! Happy summering!
July - Yesson!
Summer is halfway over, and we have no idea where the time has gone! We can't believe that it's already July 2nd, but we're enjoying every minute of the summer:) The kids are having a great time with the addition of new classes, having club 5 days a week and all sorts of volunteers in and out all the time - we're loving life! Here is a picture of Yesson one day at the club just hanging out having a good time - we couldn't ask for a better summer season!

School Uniforms
School starts in the Dominican Republic at the end of August. Children attend school either in the morning or the afternoon- not for full days, like we do in Canada and the United States. Sindi and Yesson were both provided with uniforms (2 shirts, bottoms, undershirts and underpants, and socks), shoes, gym clothes, notebooks and pencils, in August 2009, just in time for school to start.

Pool Party!
More About Them...
A volunteer, Crystal Fox, has the following to say about Sindi: My first days at the Club I was a bit shy...I speak no real Spanish (I am about to take classes now) and wasn`t really sure how to be of help. I found myself walking around the girls smiling and giving them the thumbs up sign. Sindi grabbed me by the hand and wanted me to help her with her craft. A few words of spanish, some english, a few signs and lots of smiles and hugs and I had a new best friend :) She didn`t want me to leave her to help the others and quickly came behind me pulling me back when I did. She wouldn`t make a mark on her paper unless she checked with me first. We were doing patterns that day and she taught me some of the colors and how to say heart in spanish. Corazon :)Sindi is an absolute sweetheart and she taught not to let the language barrier get in the way of getting to know and love the kids :)
Their House
Here is a short video clip of Sindi and Yesson's house. There is one mistake, when I say that they have a 3 year old brother- the 3 year old is actually a sister.
